Music Swap Received

I got the Mix CD from my swap partner today, and it's really, really good. I don't think it includes anything that I would normally have picked out for myself, and I love that. If I had to describe the entire CD, I'd say that it sounds like the soundtrack to a Wes Anderson movie- quirky and intelligent. Plus the packaging was great. Way to go Hayley Alaska! This is the stuff that I've collected for my partner in Portugal. I hope she likes it! I didn't have much to go on in her profile, but noticed that she seemed to like fabrics in her pictures.
Note to any and all swap partners- if not satisfied with the swap you have received, I appreciate a direct and *personal* email about the situation (as opposed to, say, a public message on flickr.) It hasn't happened yet (to me), but I'm just sayin'….
First ever crochet object- drawstring bag

I had fun making this drawstring bag in crochet for my May Swap partner- who is again in Portugal… I used a great yarn called "Portofino Paper" in Mandarine. Click the following link for a better picture of this type of yarn. It's a sort of cotton boucle with multicoloured paper twisted around it- it feels like paper too, when you've got your hook in it, but it's kind of pleasant to work with. I wonder how long it will take before I'm WIPping out clothes from the "Happy Hooker" book?

Inma sent this wonderful box of stuff for the April swap! I feel lucky- everything is amazing. The purple and green notebook that you see in the middle is something that you have to see in person to believe: beautiful sparkles on a thick purple paper cover. Plus she used her talents to produce a purple and green multi-beaded charm which you can't see in this pic, since it's in the purple striped box. I will have to send her a note to thank her.

I’ve finished shopping for this April Swaporama, and it was fun to let loose in the dollar store. Good thing there’s a colour restriction, or I would have bought everything. I also included recipes for lime and lavender cookies and made a lime and lavender mix CD (on the right). Check out the rest of this Flickr photo set to see notes on what’s in the box!
[Update] Apparently shipping the box air mail would have cost $25 (twice the cost of the contents) so I went with surface mail. It won’t get to Portugal for about…6 to 8 weeks. My swap partner better be a patient soul….

Uh oh, I feel another swap sign up coming on…. These things are addictive. Maybe I should give up on actually crocheting and dedicate my free time to swapping mix cd’s and crochet materials in the mail?
Swap-O-Rama

Welcome to my (very empty so far) blog. I’ve just joined Color-iffic Swap-O-Rama:

Swap members collect bits of things around a certain colour scheme and send it away to a predetermined swap recipient. April’s colour combo rocks- purple and green. I enjoyed picking out all the purple stuff, and reluctantly threw a little green in there. I also created a mix cd with a hand crafted cover that is so puffy the cover will no longer close properly. I will post when I get pics.
